Goose Bay Workshop’s Lidded Flaggon

Goose Bay Workshop’s Lidded Flaggon A cup with a lid is handy in camp, and I wanted one that would also look good on the table.  I mean, my tin boiler works, but it’s always in or over the fire, and quite sooty.  I wanted one made of copper that would be in the fire very little, look great, and be my camp drinking (and sometimes eating) cup.  I was not looking for a trekking cup because I have found that while trekking, I plan my meals and such that I can live with my shorter, topless cup that I stick into the coals or use cold.  It works fine for a week or two on the trail, but in camp one is afforded some luxuries, so what the heck.
I was on the lookout for something practical to go with my camp eating set.  Picture 1 shows my set: (plate, bowl, napkin, fork, spoon, cayenne pepper, salt, and a small knife) with my new flaggon.  Well, I’ve been using it for a while now, and I love it.  Having a lidded cup in camp is great – no more sand, dirt, twigs, and whatever in my drink (or food).  And, this is a well-made flaggon from Goose Bay Workshops that is sturdy enough that I wouldn’t worry about sticking it in the coals to warm something.  The base is wide so that I can set it on the uneven ground or the table and not worry about it tipping, and it holds enough of anything to quench your thirst or satisfy your hunger.  I think this one will last me a really long time.  I use it at home, too! Thanks to Mr. Peter Goebel – he’s got a customer in me!  He is on our links page, but here is his description of the flaggon from his website, plus a link to both.  I recommend you call Mr. Goebel and talk about what you want – he’s been in our hobby for a long time and is a wealth of information (as well as a nice guy!).  I recommend him and his work.
